Ornament

Last week I ordered Gibson a Penguin Snow Globe ornament for our christmas tree from Crate and Barrel. Dying to get it so I can add it to the tree. (I wanted a penguin of some sort because he was a penguin for Halloween)

Well it came today at work, and I sat it on my desk (out of the box) because I thought it was so cute. One of my co-workers came over and was talking to me for a little bit. He picked it up and it fell on the desk and splattered. Tiny shards of glass, water, fake snow bits and glitter went flying.

The only thing left of it are the feet and the head. And I already wrote on the bottom: "Gibson 2007 ".

Blue's Clues

Caseys email to me today about Gibson:

I was watching Gibs watch blues clues last night, and when steve brought
out the handy dandy notebook and wrote in it, gibs opened his left hand
and pretended to write on it with his right hand. He also tried to sing
the blues clues song.

New stuff

  • Gibson is: sleeping
Gibson is a little trouble maker. And he loves to get a reaction out of you when he knows he's doing something bad. I almost feel like I should ignore the bad things he does, and then maybe he won't do them anymore. Because it seems he only does it to have you chase him.

This weekend, while Casey was helping his mom move, I took Gibson to Prehistoric Pets over on Brookhurst. He loved it as much as I do. When we first walked in, there was a monitor lizard. That was the first one he saw. I felt him cling on tighter because he wasn't sure what it was. And then he did his gasping sounds. It was cute. I took him around the whole place, the snakes seemed to "scare" him the most. How does he know what a snake is? Or that he should be scared of it? I thought that was pretty cool. Instinct I guess.

I took him to the fish store too, but that didn't seem to impress him as much. So we didn't stay long there. Hopefully he stays interested in reptiles though. Maybe later on he can convince his dad that we need a snake, since I can't seem to.

First Time Out

  • Gibson is: at Suzan's, maybe dancing on a coffee table

Suzan told me yesterday when I picked up Gibs that he had to have a time out because he was being bad. I'll try to explain the situation as best I can. Gibson's response is best described in gestures and sound. But here goes.

In the garage thats been converted to the play room, they have a computer. Gibson LOVES hitting buttons on everything. The computer seems to be his favorite thing at home and at Suzan's. Well after being told before not to touch it, they decided to move furniture in front of the computer making it an obstacle to get to for him. They put two recliners and a coffee table in the way.

Suzan left the room for a few minutes, she said, and when she came back, she first saw Gibsons pants in the middle of the floor. She looked over and there was Gibson, standing on TOP of the coffee table in his diaper. ON TOP of the coffee table. She says, GIBSON! What are you doing?!

Gibson got excited because he knew he was being bad, and held out his hands and yelled some gibberish (this is the gestures and sound part that I can only describe for you in person, but those who know Gibson, can imagine it). After the gibberish was done, he made a dash for the other side of the coffee table, got down, and ran to the computer to hit as many buttons as he could before Suzan climbed over the obstacle course to get him.

Of course I think this is hilarious, Suzan did too. She said she couldn't punish him because he's so cute. So her husband, Phillip had to do it. He told Gibson that was a naughty thing and gave him time out on the couch for a few minutes.

And so it begins...

Naked

  • Gibson is: at daycare and I miss him

Casey sent me this after we both got to work today about getting Gibson ready to go to daycare...

Gibs was great once I put him on the floor. He just played while I got
ready.

Funniest thing though, I was changing his diaper and he peed a little,
getting the sheet wet. So I took him down and just put him on the floor
naked while I took the sheet off. Well after a few seconds I turn around
and he's riding his Zebra naked.

The zebra is his little musical thing that you can sit on and rock back and forth.

12 Month Check Up and SHOTS

  • Gibson is: napping
So here are his numbers for this check up.

Head: 49cm
Height: 30 1/2" (75 percentile)
Weight: 27lbs 9oz (95 percentile. He's leveling out.)

Doctor said he looks great. He seems to be leveling out. So no need for diet or anything. She wants us to slowly introduce cows milk (whole not low fat). He got FIVE shots today. But he was good, he cried/screamed but not for long. He's napping now. Doctor said he may develop a rash but nothing to worry about. We go back in a month for his second flu vaccine and next well visit will be at 18 months.

Slowing down

  • Gibson is: asleep on the floor again
Ive slowed down on updating this blog, as you can see. I just don't have much time anymore. Gibs won't really let me do much anyways when he's awake. If I get on the laptop hes over here pushing buttons for me, so I've kind of given up. It's been a year almost anyways. I want to find a way to print all the entries out though, so I can put them somewhere.

Yesterday he took a 4 hour nap at 4pm out here in the living room on a blanket. Looks like he might be doing the same today. At least last night he went right to bed with no problems around 10. He's been pretty cranky lately. I'm guessing more teeth.

He experienced his first thunder storm the other night. The long rumbling ones are what actually woke him up, when the loud crash hit he stayed asleep, somehow. It scared the shit out of me. My heart was about to jump out of my chest. It was kinda crazy.

We are getting ready for Gibson's 1st birthday party, ALREADY!!! I can't believe how quick the time went by. Is this how every year will be after this? Before you know it, I'll be shoving around a walker with tennis balls on it....YIKES.

We ordered his birthday cake today from Albertson's. They have somewhat of a big selection of decoration for the cakes, but didn't have the Backyardigans, which is the theme of the party. So we wound up getting one with a baseball field and baseball on it. He also gets a baby cake for himself. I kinda wanted to make that one myself, but I don't want to poison the poor kid.

Chompers

  • Gibson is: finally asleep
Today we discovered Gibson has two more teeth that have popped through on the top on either sides of his first two middle teeth! He was drooling pretty bad today and has been grouchy.

He did ok though over at John and Dana's while we were there.

Also, Gibson is walking a lot now. He walked from the dining room to the living room. He rested in the middle of his walk, but never fell down until he made it all the way. It's so cute to watch him walk around. He's growing so fast!!

The Beach

  • Gibson is: sleeping and still sandy
Today Gibson played in the sand for the first time. At first he seemed scared of it. It was strange. Kept standing up and latching on to my neck. Once I changed him into his swim shorts and daddy took him to the water he was fine. He splashed around and we walked him out from the shore a bit. He loved it, it seems.

Back under the umbrella I got some good pictures.

Here's some video of Gibson walking for the first time...
